The valve is intended:
- to protect the transformer when the pressure inside the transformer tank is more than 50/80 kPa (depending on the valve model)
With normal oil pressure in the inner tank, the safety valve is closed. The operation occurs when the pressure exceeds the set value. As a result, the valve opens and produces an emergency oil discharge through the hole in the housing in a certain direction. When the oil pressure normalizes, the valve returns to its original position. Safety valves are designed for a response pressure of 50 kPa and 80 kPa.
